Lescaze House

Sector: Private Homes, Renovation
Location: Midtown East, New York
Status: Design

Lescaze House, located in Midtown East, New York, was designed, built & occupied by the renowned Swiss architect William Lescaze, one of the pioneers of modernism in America.

The building, significantly different in appearance to its ornamental neighbours, stands out for its simple lines, pure forms & glass brick walls that provide light as well as privacy to the rooms. Internally the layout follows the more traditional New York typology, but with expressionist forms to emphasize the spaces & main central stair, characteristics seen throughout the Swiss modernists work.

NLA were invited by the current owner to act as design consultants for a full internal renovation.
